Thomas Heim
Chief Legal Counsel
Thomas Heim joined Elior North America as General Counsel in June 2022. He has over 20 years of experience counseling clients in fields including hospitality, healthcare and finance. His extensive experience includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, financings, commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
Thomas spent the initial 15 years of his legal career at major law firms, including significant time at the international law firm Reed Smith, LLP. At Reed Smith, Tom counseled a wide variety of businesses, from startup companies to Fortune 500 clients and state pension systems, on transactional, regulatory and governance matters.
More recently, Thomas worked in-house, helping guide several large businesses in their growth. He served as corporate shared services and business development counsel at MedStar Health Inc., a large D.C. and Maryland regional health system, before settling into the hospitality field. He then spent four years at Delaware North, where Thomas oversaw legal matters for Delaware North’s largest and most historic stadium and arena’s business, which served over 50 sports and entertainment venues, including MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL venues across the United States.
Before his legal career, Thomas was involved in business and accounting roles, including at IBM Federal Systems Corporation and at Computer Task Group, Inc., an IT services company, in its United States and European offices.
Thomas received his undergraduate degree in Business Finance, magna cum laude, from the Saunders College of Business at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the Boston University School of Law.
Thomas also volunteers to serve on the Board of Directors of Best Self Behavioral Health, the largest community-based behavioral and mental health organization serving children and adults of all ages in Western New York.
